Successful repair of one 1976 twin furnace, 15,900Kg/hr, George Clark & N.E.M - Maxecon steam boiler located in Great Northern Distilleries, Dundalk.

Both furnaces had Intermittent cracking noted at the water-side toe of the attachment weld, up to 4mm into furnace plate.

Repair involved removal of defective section of furnace plate and welding in of 2 new rolled furnace rings. 

Full NDT completed on weld areas plus additional stress relieving due to large repair area.

Boiler was hydraulically tested to 16.2 bar and then put back into service.
